Green smoothie with banana and peach

image

About a week ago I was at the library and one of the women there asked if I juice. I started telling her what I know and then realized I couldn’t stop talking about juicing. I’ve been juicing off and on for over 15 years. A year ago I splurged and bought a Breville. So far a good investment. In the past I have purchased the lower end models and they never hold up to even light use. I don’t use a juicer all the time but I want to know it will work when I need it.

On to this smoothie up here which was not made in a juicer but a blender. So I’m going on for a bit about juicing and this woman wanted suggestions for juice recipes and what brand of juicer is best for juicing, so I went on to say how easy it is to make smoothies. No expensive juicer necessary. Especially if you’re on the fence. You could probably even find a decent blender at the thrift store.

Note: If you like a sweeter smoothie make sure the banana is very ripe and add extra banana. Also you can add a little sweetener if you prefer. One other tip is you can freeze all the ingredients except for the milk and water and it’s more like a frosty.

Serves 2-4

  • 2 cup baby spinach
  • 2 cups swiss chard, chopped, ends removed
  • 1 medium ripe banana, peeled
  • 1 cup frozen peaches
  • 1 cup milk
